With a recent update to the Google Play Store that finally brought out the Wishlists and gift cards options, many users of Jelly Bean (and Ice Cream Sandwich) were beginning to wonder when Google Now would get its next face lift. The application is already very highly regarded, but most users have agreed that it could always be better—especially with regards to sports teams, which offered pretty limited options before.
Google has fixed several problems in the latest update to the Google Play Store. Namely, the fixed the biggest issue everyone was having, which was the selection of sports teams. Whereas before there were only a few to choose from, users now have a drop down menu with a much, much longer list of sports teams from all five major sports (football, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer). The update as a whole, as per the Google Play Store page:
For Android 4.1+ devices, this update to Google Now includes:
*Movies – see movie showtimes and more
*Public alerts – receive emergency messages such as storm warnings and earthquake alerts
*Add favorite sports teams to follow in real time (from Settings) <—-sooooo many people been waiting for this one
*Support for Korea
So if you haven’t already, head over to the Google Play Store and get your application updated. ICS users may have to wait for the thread linked above to release the update if your Play Store doesn’t update automatically. Is it perfect? Not quite yet. However, it has taken a big step forward, especially for sports fans and movie buffs. For anyone who wants to discuss it further, XDA Senior Member leelaa has posted a discussion thread.
