Google Stops Selling Nexus One’s in their Online Stores

After running into a thread started by XDA member niftydl, we learned that in a weird turn of events, Google announced this last Friday that they would be pulling the plug on their online sales for the Nexus One. They will restrict the sales to certain markets and to registered developers only.

It seems that even though the development of the Android platform is in full force and taking larger market shares as time goes by, it simply wasn’t enough to keep the software giant interested in selling N1 to consumers. This may also be due to Google working on the Nexus’ replacement, but this is only speculation at this point.

Again, keep in mind that this does not mean that the Nexus One will cease to exist all of the sudden. What this means is that it will be that much harder to get one now.

You can join the discussion thread and you can read more in Google’s official statement.
