Grenade Launcher for the Minimalist

Grenade Launcher for the Minimalist

For many smartphone users, the Android operating system is hard to transition to—especially for those coming from iOS. The home screens, the widgets, the extensive customization, among many other features of Android, may all be a bit too overwhelming for many who may also just find many of these features to be unnecessary and cumbersome.

XDA Senior Member Gibbz1 developed Grenade Launcher, a simple launcher that is slightly reminiscent of the Springboard launcher found in iOS. Consisting of a vertically scrolling screen of the user’s apps, and optional vertically scrolling groups of apps. Groups of apps can be added and removed, and the order can be changed. The user can also toggle a ‘Hidden’ group, which shows all apps the user chooses to hide from the other groups. The number of rows and columns apps is customizable, and the apps can also be organized in a unique alphabetical order that can’t really be described. The size and transparency of application icons can also be user defined.

This is perfect for users looking for a minimalist and user-friendly launcher interface who only want to find and launch their apps quickly and easily. While still in Beta, Grenade Launcher works with Android versions 2.0 and up, and is free on the Play store. If you’re interested, check out the original thread for more details.
