Not all the cool mods out there are software only. Sure, they can do fun things like help your battery life or allow you to have some features you otherwise wouldn’t, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other types of mods out there. Hardware mods, for example, can do very much the same kind of things as software mods wherein they allow for features that you wouldn’t normally have.
XDA Senior Member ellesshoo has devised a hardware modification that will allow for pogo charging on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Currently, the GSM version has been successfully modified, with the CDMA/LTE version being attempted later this week.
Before attempting, please not that this can cause some real damage to your phone and you absolutely should not attempt this unless you are very sure you know what you’re doing. As usual, neither the original modder nor XDA is responsible if you wreck your Nexus.
The process involves a few hardware modifications and even a few optional ones if you’re willing to go that far, but in the end it will make your Galaxy Nexus charge while in certain pogo pin compatible car docks.
If this sounds like a fun afternoon and you’re sure you know what you’re doing, you can find a step by step process, including pictures, and additional information in the original thread._________
