How to Modify Your Karbonn Smart Tab 8 & 10

While it may not be possible for each and every Android-powered device out there to receive a dedicated forum here on XDA, the lesser known devices out there are more than welcome to pull up a chair and kick back in the Miscellaneous Android Development section. The Karbonn Smart Tab 8 and 10 are prime examples of this. Their specs were probably never going to attract a lot of attention from developers, but that’s not to say the devices aren’t necessarily a half decent option for the average user seeking a lower priced device.
The majority of these somewhat obscure devices will attract some form of aftermarket development, and the Karbonn tabs are no exception. XDA Senior Member ankitdaruler has collected some of the options available to Smart Tab Owners into one thread, along with instructions on how to install them. There are two custom ROMs available courtesy of Forum Member fuser-invent. One is close to stock with a few tweaks, while the other is more a custom affair. There’s a port of TWRP thanks to Senior Member ozadroid. There are also methods for rooting the device and an explanation of how to swap the internal/external storage, something which is often required on a device with a fairly small amount of internal space.
So if you have a Karbonn Smart Tab that you’re looking to tweak, this would be a great place to start. Owners of any other device lacking it’s own forum would also probably find it worthwhile to have a good old fashioned rummage through the Miscellaneous Android Development section. Who knows what you might find.
