Owners of the Sprint-exclusive HTC EVO 4G have been pining for a root for the Android 2.2 Froyo update to the phone’s software since its release at the start of the month, and this week XDA developer and resident rooting guru regaw_leinad has posted the first guide to doing so.
The update added new features to the handset while fixing some minor issues with the original software, but many EVO users have been reluctant to update as doing so would restrict them from installing some applications that require root access.
According to regaw_leinad, the rooting process is similar to that of the recently cracked Droid 2. It requires the Android SDK to be installed on your computer but by following the guide, the process should be fairly hassle-free. Nonetheless, and as with all rooting guides, the developer warns that there is some risk of bricking your phone.
Learn how to root the phone now by reading the guide thread._________
