You may recall that a little under a month ago, XDA Recognized Contributor and leaker extraordinaire LlabTooFer posted a tentative update schedule for current generation HTC devices. Last generation’s flagship HTC One (M7) was among the devices covered in the leaked documentation, and the device was slated to receive the Sense 6 goods some time between May and June.
Now, President of HTC America John Mackenzie has gone ahead and confirmed the rumor, stating that the update will arrive to consumer devices by the end of May. This confirmation comes courtesy of Jason’s Twitter account, which read:
Reminder that Sense 6 will push to current HTC One users by end of May. #htcadvantage
As elaborated later in the Twitter comments thread, this update will be rolling out to devices in both US and Canada. That said, it’s unknown at this time whether this includes carrier-branded devices or unlocked and unsubsidized devices only.
By now, most HTC One M7 users reading this will already be on an AOSP-derived KitKat ROM or a Sense 6 port from the M8, but it’s still nice to see official support by way of OEM updates. Are you eagerly awaiting the Sense 6 update or do you prefer to live in a world of non-Sense ROMs? Let us know in the comments below.
