About a month ago, XDA member danne_jo had began working on something for the HTC Wildfire. The little device was now being fitted to run Gingerbread, and not AOSP. The port to this was what it is commonly known as a Ginger-Sense build (Gingerbread and Sense if you haven’t figured it out just yet). Now, you may be thinking that is is relatively old news and that you have seen Ginger-Sense ports for many other devices. Well, the thing is that the ports have been for far more powerful devices, and this is why the Wildfire gets an honorary mention in the Hall of Fame for being able to run this. Other devs have jumped into the project and so far there seems to be good progress. XDA member evilisto has been hard at play as well and has been able to get Wifi connectivity to work with it (as well as a few other things according to the video that he posted). Please remember before trying… it is very early in the project and thus, the releases so far are alpha quality. Many things still don’t work, so don’t expect this to be a daily driver just yet. Having said that, if your ORD is itching, you can always take it for a spin.
Please share your feedback with the devs if you end up trying this out.
