For those toting the Sony Xperia Play, the long wait for some Ice Cream Sandwich goodness isn’t over just yet, but as of today you can grab a little taste.
XDA Recognized Developer DooMLoRD, a member of the Team UtterChaos, has gotten a hold of a leaked Ice Cream Sandwich ROM for the Xperia Play and has released it for people to play with and ROM developers to work on.
It’s an alpha release, as expected for most Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs for the time being, so there’s a few bugs and things that don’t work. DooMLoRD notes:
Since this is a leaked ROM there are some issues
-CAMERA is not working – may be we can try mixing files from GB ROM?
-I couldnt save GSM DATA APN
-Even though the ROM is rooted some apps are not getting root access – we have similar issues on the leaked ARC ROM, though adb is in root mode
I will keep updating this as and when new issues are found/old ones are resolved!
So if you can live without those things, or just want to flash it to mess around, you can check out the installation instructions, download links and a complete feature list and change log in the original thread.
Additionally, anyone who flashes this will have the touch-enabled recovery we reported on earlier.
This ROM can expect to be supported and developed on, so it’s only a matter of time before it’s stable enough to be a daily driver, but that shouldn’t stop anyone from seeing the Android 4.0 goodness._________
