Looks like the freezer is getting ready for the newest frozen treat from the California-based giant. The highly anticipated Ice Cream Sandwich OS, which is Android’s next iteration, will be unveiled on October 18th in Hong Kong at an event co-hosted by Samsung, the manufacturer of the first official ICS device: the Nexus Prime (now officially the Galaxy Nexus). The event was originally planned for Oct 11th, but as an act of respect for Steve Job’s passing, Samsung decided to postpone it for a little while. Now, all the sobbing is done (for the most part), tears have dried, and people are getting ready to move on with their lives–well, at least Android fans.
The event will have a live feed on Android’s official channel on Youtube, so even if you do not have the money or the time to get a ticket to Hong Kong, you can still watch the whole thing from the comfort of your sofa/bed/office/phone/etc.
Finally, we couldn’t really leave you high and dry without telling you about the small promo video showing the new lawn ornament as it’s placed in front of Google’s HQ. The thread linked at the bottom of this article includes a video of the ICS Android unpacking, and placement right in front of the HC and GB ones. Needless to say, at this rate, they may need a bigger lawn soon.
This is the invitation received to the “First-to-knowers” around the world.
You can find more information and the video in the original thread.
