Recently, we brought you news of various camera mods that help improve camera and camcorder quality. And for those who don’t carry around a larger camera, they’re quite useful modifications. While nothing replaces a good DSLR or the latest in Android-powered cameras, a little more quality never hurts. It’s better than having YouTube comments asking if you filmed a video with a potato. Now, there is a camera mod to boost quality for the Sprint LG Optimus G.
XDA Senior Member _Epic has released a camera mod that will improve the overall quality of images and videos. It’s simple to install as users need to flash it in recovery. It should be usable on any ROM for the device as well. The features include:
These are the changes so far(12/25/2012):
1) Increased 1080p bitrate to 20mbps
2) Increase audio bitrate to 320kbps for both 720p and 1080p
3) Changed audio channels to 2 for 1080p
More changes, more towards image then video(12/29/12):
1) Doubled the image decoding memory cap to 40mb
2) Increased all image encoding quality values to 100
As is the norm for these kinds of mods, this is all done with edits done to the media_profiles.xml. So if users want to try their own values, then it’s as simple as navigating to the media_profiles.xml and changing some values. Users have reported that the mod works well and that the improvements in quality is noticeable. If this looks like something you want to try out, check out the original thread.
