CM9 has been a target among ICS seekers in today’s day and age. However, as everything in life, one must learn how to crawl before learning how to run and with that concept in mind, we arrive at the inevitable conclusion that before being able to have the joys of AOSP CM9 on the Samsung Infuse 4G, we must first have ICS running, at the very least, partially. After lots of blood, sweat, and tears, it looks like XDA Recognized Developer jt1134 did just what everyone (who owns an Infuse) was waiting for. He brought the ICS goodness to the device, in all its unofficial beauty. As customary, the ROM has a few bugs here and there. However, by the time this was posted, a lot of features were already fully functional.
Now, if you thought that a story could have a happy ending, well… it does. It looks like XDA Elite Recognized Developer Entropy512 decided to jump in on the bandwagon of ICS for the Infuse as well and has released an unofficial version of CM9, based on jt1134′s work. Essentially, Entropy512 managed to fix a bunch of “broken” code in the ROM, allowing for the GPS to properly run as well as the dock mode. The only two things that are not working whatsoever are the Bluetooth and the TV Out capabilities of the device. Having said that, the rom currently has a partially working camera, and every other feature properly working (data, calls, WiFi, etc).
So, if you were waiting for a chance to jump into the fun that is ICS, now is your chance. Please read the entire OP as Entropy is giving good information regarding the build, what works, what doesn’t, and even talks about some well known problems. Please make sure that you report any new findings to him.
What is working:
Wifi (including tethering)
What is partially working:
Camera (flash is flaky – if it’s not working, change its settings in the Camera app and it may start working)
Car dock audio (possibly desk dock too, untested) – Some issues with ringtone playback when docked – This is native dock audio, not using the Car Dock Redirector app workaround. Thanks go to StevenHarperUK of the GT-I9100 community for reworking CM9′s dock audio code to permit this to work.
