You’ve rooted your device, installed a custom recovery, and flashed a custom kernel. You’ve even tuned your kernel, after have read through the kernel tweaking guide we covered roughly five months ago. However, you recently also upgraded your device to Ice Cream Sandwich, only to realize that while ICS-compatible kernels are largely the same, there are several notable differences. Kernel tweaks you were used to in the past had changed somewhat.
Extending his previous instructional thread, XDA Recognized Contributor droidphile has created a follow up thread to explain the differences between ICS kernels and those of previous Android versions. And just as before, he explains how to tweak the kernel tunables in order to eke out the most performance and functionality.
The scope of the thread is just as large as that of its predecessor. As seen in the thread’s table of contents:
Post 1: Understanding all the Kernel Tunables
Post 2: Exclusive Features – Dual Booting and BLN Breathing
Post 3: All New Governor – Pegasusq. Parameter Explanations, Sample Tweaks, How to Tweak
Post 4: Kmemhelper Binary Interface – Enjoy Virtual Kernel Hacking
Post 5: Miscellaneous FAQs on Kernel from Different Angles
Those wishing to dive a little deeper should grab a nice beverage and head over to the original thread._________
