Introducing The Unbrickable Captivate

Some of the Samsung Galaxy devices earned a reputation of being almost impossible to brick, which is of course not exactly true (although they are harder to brick than their HTC counterparts). It looks like the research for the perfect way of unbricking a Captivate has led XDA Recognized Developer AdamOutler to discover something rather interesting. With a few modifications to the OM pins, it seems that he has managed to get the device to become bootable via either USB, UART, or even MMC. In essenece the device can be revived no matter what you flash on it. It is quite a better and substantially cheaper alternative than having to send your device to Samsung, send it to a repair shop, or even cheaper than having to purchase a JTAG box for yourself.
The dev has provided a very well laid out guide on how to make this mod yourself. You will not need a whole lot of things, but you will need to have some firm pulse and some soldering skills. Other than that, if you are interested in making your Captivate immortal, you should definitely take a look at this.
I’m not kidding when I say UnBrickable. Modifying the OM pins means you can boot from USB, UART or MMC. This makes the phone quite UNBRICKABLE.
