We have seen themes for most apps for Android to turn them into pretty much any color combination. Black with white text is one that has been around for quite some time. However, the HTC Messaging application was a bit of a tougher project to address due to many dependencies with the com.htc.resources.apk, which could drastically modify other things in Sense if they were changed. Well, XDA member JsChiSurf has put his sleeves up and decided to tackle this project head on and has come back triumphant. The newly modified mms.apk has the white background turned black and the black text turned white. It was quite a bit of work from the dev as he had to modify quite a few things in the apk, but finally came out on top.
Please leave some feedback for the dev to see if you like this or not.
It seems this has not been done before, and upon initial investigation, I can see why. Many of the HTC Sense applications share common resources (themes, styles, icons, etc), stored in com.htc.resources.apk. So, if you attempt to modify something used by Mms.apk, but stored in com.htc.resources.apk, you are going to unwittingly modify the appearance of other applications, and if other corresponding elements are not adjusted in those applications as well, you are going to have problems.
