In case you aren’t familiar, Iptraf is a popular open source program for monitoring network traffic and statistics in real time. Thanks to it’s open source nature, Iptraf has now been ported to Android by XDA Recognized Developer viulian, who developed an APK installer to use this tool on your Android device.
To actually install Iptraf, you need a rooted phone with BusyBox installed. This is important due to the way the application was compiled. You’ll also need a small amount of free space on your system partition. After that, you can either use an SSH server or terminal emulator to access the information. One small issue noted by the developer is that using SSH will lead to the SSH traffic being displayed, which you may not want to see. He goes on to explain how to filter this out if you’d like. You will also need to mount /system as RW to allow the app to function as it should.
This should work on Android 1.6 and above, so if you’d like to try this out, head on over to the original forum thread for more info._________
