Last month we reported on Jar of Beans, an impressive Android Emulator. At the time of writing, the emulator was still in it’s infancy. Since then, the popularity of Jar of Beans has increased significantly, and it has gained an impressive user base Spurred on by this extra attention, the developer, XDA Senior Member unrealmanu, has continued development and has made some significant improvements.
The most notable change is that Jar of Beans now comes with full working root, which of course significantly opens up the potential of the emulator. Busybox has also been integrated and is fully functional.
Jar of Beans now also contains Google Play Store, so you are no longer limited to installing apps by side loading APKs. Other Google elements added include Gallery, Gmail, and Camera—all pulled from Android 4.2.
MX Player and x86 Codec have been integrated in order to allow playback of local and streaming video. Another experimental feature is the addition of Libhoudini, which allows for ARM application compatibility, which is now currently working. There are of course a number of other bug fixes and improvements, along with an improved user interface.
If you want to try out this emulator, head on over to the Jar of Beans thread._________
