It has been some time since the JB ports started raining like delicious drops of candy on all our devices. Many of them are getting ports that are subsequently getting better and better as time goes by thanks to the efforts of all the community. There are many times when ROMs cannot be fixed easily or by a single person, and as a result of that, we see patches, fixes, and solutions surfacing in the development areas of the site. The original Transformer (TF101) is no exception to this rule and we see the proof of this thanks to XDA Forum Member timduru. He has created a set of tweaks that he has labeled as K.A.T (Kat Android Toolbox), and it includes a set of mouth watering improvements, fixes, and upgrades for the mythical first Tegra 2 bearing device.
The toolbox set includes several fixes and improvements for the kernel, which result in improved UI performance, more stability during both normal and overclocked operation, and better memory management. It also includes fixes for audio and speaker volume and balance, both of which have been a somewhat major issue since the release of this device. Moreover, an HDMI audio fix is included as well, which is/was a major bug in most (if not all) JB ports on this device. Last but not least, the wireless capabilities of the device (GPS and Wifi) are both working correctly thanks to this pack. An additional bonus to this is the inclusion of ad-hoc capabilities for JB ROMs, but this is still a work in progress, so stay tuned for more.
So, if you are one of the people jumping out of the short-lived ICS band-wagon for the TF101 and onto the new JB one, make sure that you try these fixes and see if they improve the overall performance of your device. Please, do keep in mind that there are compatibility guidelines you will need to follow. Timduru has dedicated his third post to let you know what pack is compatible with what ROM. Please take them for a spin and leave some feedback for the dev.
This will be the goal of the K.A.T project, bring you all the enhancements and fixes in one spot
