Keep Your Screen On with Intelligence

keep screen on

Isn’t it annoying when you’re reading an article or essay, or staring at the screen waiting for your friend to reply to your text message, when after 15 seconds your phone’s screen turn off? You then have to agonizingly stretch your finger to the power button, press it, unlock the phone and continue what you’re doing before you were rudely interrupted. Well, Keep Screen On knows when to keep your screen on and off.

Developed by XDA Senior MemberĀ DDeleted, Keep Screen On keeps your screen on when you’re using the phone or tablet, and keeps the screen off when you’re not. The app uses the built-in orientation sensor of the device to know when the device is being used. By default, the app infers an ‘inactive’ device when it detects the phone is lying flat on a surface (180 degrees), with an ‘active’ device at an angle steeper than 160 degrees. The set ‘screen-on’ time, be it 15 seconds, 1 minute, or some other duration, is than deactivated when the phone is ‘active’, meaning an indefinite ‘screen-on’ duration. The ‘screen-on’ time is than re-activated when Keep Screen On detects that the device is no longer used. The ‘activation’ angle can be adjusted between 0 to 180 degrees, as well as the accuracy of the orientation sensor in its detection.

DDeleted has developed a very useful app that performs a very practical function. It saves the unnecessary effort of continuously tapping the screen every 10 seconds to keep the screen awake, and does not interfere with the normal user experience of a device. Keep Screen On compatibility stretches all the way back to Android version 2.0 and up, and is available for free from the Play store.
