Kernel Comparison for the EVO

This fantastic comparison between kernels has been compiled by XDA member skydeaner to show results across the many available kernels for our beloved EVO devices. Why is this important? The reason is very simple, kernels are worked and tweaked by many different devs with various philosophies on what kernels should have, what it should fix, what enhancements should be included, etc. Some kernels may give you a better frame rate (FPS), while others might make your device fly speed-wise. Careful consideration must be given to every kernel as each one has its own advantages and disadvantages.
The tests performed in this article are made with a variety of standard benchmarking apps, including Quadrant, Linpac and FPS2D. Moreover, the same testing criteria was used throughout the comparison, so even if you use a different rom, the performance comparisons should be relatively similar as most roms are built on similar bases (more or less). A quick point to be made, a lot of people disagree about the usability of Quadrant and claim that the results from it are relatively meaningless. This is half true, but even if it was completely true and the results were indeed meaningless, it would still give you a good comparison between the different kernels and the results should correlate to other tests performed.
The results are very well laid out in several bar graphs for ease of looking at which one performs better. So, if you are curious about which kernel to flash with your favorite rom, make sure that you drop by the original thread. The source site can be found here.
