Launch Recovery without a PC on your EVO4G

XDA forum members Koush and paulobrien have been busy again, and have put together a technique to get recovery running on the EVO without using a PC!

Originally posted by paulobrien:

Fake-Flash using a similar concept to the original root method, it launches a recovery image from the test image recovery, but instead of pushing the files from a PC, the files are extracted from the update.zip on the SD card.

An easy way of downloading and installing the recovery is using ROM Manager, which is a free app by Koush, available on the Market.  This will also install the recovery update.zip to /sdcard/update.zip.

If you’d rather download manually, Koush has also provided instructions for this method.

Note that Fake-Flash is only for devices rooted with a test image, and will not work on the unrevoked root.
