Learn to Create Your Own Themes

As our name implies, we at XDA primarily focus on development and encouraging others to learn how to develop. That said, many people appreciate themes, and many would like to learn how to create them. Well, the world can always use more themers, just as it can always use more developers, so there are quite a few theming tutorials out there. However, one was recently released in the Samsung Galaxy S II forums that can be useful for any Android phone.
The tutorial was written by XDA Recognized Contributor GaboWinter and features not one, but several ways that users can casually theme some of their system and applications. Users will learn how to do it using the following methods:
1.- Decompiling the .apk (More technical way and the only that works if your mod involve some code too) If you have some troubles at the moment of decompile/compile and you are using APK tool take a look on this thread
2.- Via ‘Universal Flasher Tool’ (The ideal way to make your mods available across the versions of your ROM)
3.- Drag and drop the images to the right paths (Only works with images, the perfect way to follow for the very noob modders)
As theming can introduce aspiring developers to the world of Android without doing anything too challenging, all three methods are excellent ways to get one’s hands dirty and used to fiddling with Android system files. The tutorials cover how to do the following things using all three methods:
1.- How-to modify the SystemUI background Decompile the .apk method [Technical Way]
2.- How-to modify the Dialer background Decompile the .apk method [Technical Way]
3.- All about the ‘Universal Flasher Tool’ method
4.- How-to modify the SystemUI background Drag & Drop Method [Easy Steps for noobs]
5.- How-to modify the Dialer background Drag & Drop Method [Easy Steps for noobs]
6.- How-to change the Lockscreen Icon to Swype [Technical way] [Extra Tutorials]
7.- How-to add the Carrier Name on the status bar [Technical way] [Extra Tutorials]
