LG / Google Smartwatch Specs Leaked

A few days ago, we talked about Google’s plans to release a wearables SDK in the coming few weeks. But as it turns out, the Mountain View giant may be working on a bit more than an SDK release. Rather, the company is developing its own self-branded smartwatch with LG as the manufacturer—that is, if leaks are to be believed.

The LG-sourced Google smartwatch will allegedly feature a 1.65″ IPS LCD running at a 280×280 resolution, half a gig of RAM, 4 gigs of storage, and a currently unknown processor. This info comes courtesy of Twitter leaker extraordinaire @evleaks. And with these specs, it’s safe to say that this is in direct competition with Samsung’s Galaxy Gear 2.

It’s nice to see some hardware specs even if it’s all just unverified, leaked info. But what’s on everyone’s mind isn’t the hardware—it’s the software. The UX/UI and how well such a device integrates with your current smartphone will make or break its success. We can’t wait to see more of what Google’s up to. 2014 is truly shaping up to be the year of wearable tech, and it’s about time to see Google’s entrance into the field.
