Update: Unfortunately, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. That was certainly the case this time, as the official Facebook post cited below has now been redacted. They (briefly) apologized for their actions on their Facebook page, which was then copied here by XDA Senior Member Sorin90, but that was deleted as well. Moreover, XDA Forum Member Flaide Laise posted a screenshot of LG Nordic stating that LG Estonia knew an update was making its way out for the device, and they incorrectly thought it was KitKat.
I’m at a loss here, guys. I am not sure what’s more troubling: the fact that LG Estonia simply removes these statements without adequate explanation or how they seemingly don’t even know what firmware versions are available for their own devices. For shame.
Update 2: Liis Veersalu of LG Estonia has reached out to us, explaining the confusion:
Mistakenly, there has been information spreading via LG Electronics Estonia Facebook page that LG Optimus G (E975) will receive an Android 4.4 KitKat update in Estonia this week. We confirm that it is not so and sincerely apologize for any given false or ambiguous information.
We confirm that in Estonia, LG Optimus G did get an update this week that allows users to use 4G internet. The update is available only for operator Elisa clients (https://www.elisa.ee/). But, to confirm once again – it was not Android 4.4 KitKat update.
Currently in our possession we have no information on whether and when LG Optimus G (E975) will receive an Android 4.4 KitKat update in Estonia. If this information comes to our knowledge we will immediately update you.
Given that XDA-Developers has published an article on the topic, we would kindly like to ask you to update the post with our statement about the actual situation in order to avoid further misunderstandings.
Please, once again, accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Thank you, Liis, for explaining what happened. While it does indeed confirm that Android 4.4 is not coming to the Optimus G for the time being, at least we have official word as to what happened. Now, we just hope that this story ends up having a happy ending for Optimus G owners through an official KitKat update at some point in the future.
Earlier today, we talked about how Sony continues to court the development community with KitKat AOSP device trees and binaries for various Xperia devices. We were also recently pleased with HTC, when they joined Motorola and bestowed the official Android 4.4 KitKat goods on not only the Google Play edition, but also the developer and unlocked versions of the HTC One. But Sony, Motorola, and HTC aren’t the only friendly faces in town. LG is also trying to make a splash thanks to an expedient Android 4.4 update to the close cousin of the Nexus 4, the LG Optimus G.
The news of the Android 4.4 update for the Optimus G comes from LG Estonia’s own Facebook page. BUT, and there’s always a “but,” there’s a catch—two actually. First off, this update is currently only available for Optimus G owners in Estonia. Second, the update appears to only be available to those who physically bring their phones into a mobile service center, as OTA availability “might take some additional time.”
Despite the “buts,” this is great news for Optimus G owners everywhere because not only can you rest assured that the build will be ripped and posted in the near future, but it also speaks to LG’s commitment to support their older devices, even before some of their newer devices like the LG G2 receive the official KitKat goods.
What are your thoughts on LG’s expedient KitKat update? Please leave your thoughts in the comments below! Then make your way over to the KitKat for LG Optimus G thread to learn more. While the first few pages initially mention rumors of a late October KitKat release, the last few pages talk about the Estonian release.
