You know who the iPhone/iPod have the Yahoo Messenger with video chat capabilities? As it turns out, the wise people at Yahoo decided that the Android platform was good enough to receive this as well and included it in the latest MyTouch rom. XDA member matthewjulian managed to pull the app from there and decided to give it a go in the EVO, just to find that it works. There are a few restrictions on its use, but other than that, it seems that it only needs a little tweaking here and there to become a fully functional app.
Keep in mind that the other person you are calling mus have video enabled for this to work. Also, the app currently works for EVO to EVO and not for EVO to PC. If you feel brave enough to test it and try to fix it, give it a go.
I downloaded the leaked MyTouch rom today for the sole purpose of grabing this…and it WORKS GREAT!!
I haven’t got the video from Evo to Mac working yet(im sure i am missing something simple), but the Evo to Evo works great, better than Tango/Qik/Fring. It has video and audio at the same time(cough..Qik…cough) and works well over 3G(lowest confirmed functional 3G is -99db, of course 4G&WiFi work great) , wife and I have been playing calling each other from the next room
You can find more information in the application thread.
