Make Your Images Fully DCIM Compliant with DCIM Helper

If you take many photos with your device, you may have encountered some issues relating to DCIM compliance. This mainly affects the stock camera application on AOSP ROMs, but some OEM camera apps also suffer the same problem. The problem is that the stock camera does not follow the standard protocol for naming and storing images in a way that is consistent with the vast majority of digital cameras on the market. This can make it difficult to export your images to programs or other devices.

This issue prompted XDA Recognized Developer hrk to develop a simple application that automatically moves (or copies) captured images to the correct DCIM compliant location within the device’s file system, thereby fixing your DCIM blues. Your images should then be visible in other applications, while still being visible in the gallery app of your device. The app is described as “Hassle free, configure once and forget,” and includes a simple homescreen widget to allow toggle on / off at will.

The app should work on devices running Android 2.1 or above, and can be found in its application thread.
