Make Your Widget Search Shorter with AppWidgetPicker for Android

Surely, most of you Android owners have gone through this a bunch of times. You want to add a widget to your home screen, and in order to do this, you have to scroll through a long list of widgets to find the one you want. The problem is that the list in question has the same widget repeated 2 or 3 times at least, but with different size widgets. XDA member boombuler just released an app that should make scrolling a bit faster and less tedious. The app basically groups the same widget (with different sizes) under a general menu. Once this widget is selected, it displays a second menu with the size selection. A much nicer organization of what otherwise is a long list of possibilities. Give it a go, but make sure that you understand the installation instructions as some work needs to be performed to get this up and running.
I published it a few weeks ago via twitter but I think I should post it here to:
I have written an App to replace the stock AppWidgetPicker. (you know long press on the homescreen -> add -> widget) which groups the widgets by packages.
So if you have a widget installed that has 3 different sizes, there is only one entry in the list and if you click it you can pick the size in a second dialog.
The main problem is that it needs to be installed on /system cause android will not grand the needed permission to any app installed on /data.
The APK is attached
The source can be found at google code at my “scrollablecontacts” svn repository.
Its all released under Apache 2.0 license.
You can find more information in the application thread.
