Manually Restore Your RSA Keys on the EVO

Not too long ago, we wrote about a tutorial on how to check for the RSA keys on the EVO. However, one can’t help but to wonder, can I do something about the keys to prevent them from getting lost or corrupted? Worry not, because XDA member haxt has written a great tutorial on how to manually restore these keys in case they get damaged due to a bad flash. The process is somewhat involved as you need to know a few things beforehand such as familiarity with hex editing, and what RSA keys and certificates actually are. Also, you will use adb towards the end of the process, so you will need to have this handy as well. The guide is very well written and is relatively easy to follow, but as with anything that involves hex editing, you need to make sure that you are doing the right thing or you can royally mess something up.

Was this guide helpful? If you have any additions or feedback for this guide, make sure that you let the dev know.

I was one of the people that did the initial backup methods (telling you how to backup your certificate and rsa keys) or using cat which doesn’t actually backup your wimax.img properly. After hours of playing around in a hex editor I finally got my 4g working again, and i’ll explain how

You can find more information in the guide thread.
