MetaWidget Turns Web Content into Custom Widgets

It’d be a pretty safe bet to say that you have at least one widget somewhere on the home screens of your Android device(s). Even though there are literally thousands of different widgets out there, ranging from weather and sports results to daily fish prices, there are still occasions when you may want a widget for something pretty specific but lack the skills to code your own. MetaWidget from XDA Recognized Developer ftgg99 may well be able to solve that problem.

MetaWidget is a clever app that allows you to take nearly all web-based content and turn it into a widget that can be placed on your homescreen. In the developers own words:

Simply browse to a website, pick a column of text, link or image and enjoy this information right on your home screen! Why is this cool you ask? Because almost anything can be parsed out of a website – images, blogrolls, RSS feeds or entire windows. Any widget created through Meta can be customized and automatically updated, or updated on user interaction.

Although the app is described as “pretty stable,” this is still technically a beta. However I’m sure that since you’re here on XDA, that won’t put you off much. It should work on all devices running Android 2.1 or later, and a full list of features can found here in the application thread.
