Motorola ACTV Android Wristwatch Gets Root

Motorola ACTV Android Wristwatch Gets Root

So you’ve been rooting (quite literally) for one of those things on the right? The Motorola ACTV, which was introduced alongside the Droid RAZR back in October, is designed as a GPS tracker with built-in “smart” MP3 player, wearable on your wrist (read: it’s a watch). Naturally, it comes with a locked down and heavily modified version of Android, but no more: CMW has managed to root the ACTV.

He did this by intercepting the ugrade process to obtain a boot.img, which he patched to enable adb and then flashed onto the ACTV through fastboot. This allowed him to connect it to his PC using adb, and run the zergRush exploit to gain full root access. And install the Honeycomb launcher, for example, or any other APK.

For detailed intructions, visit CMW’s blog. Oh, and should we add a forum for the ACTV, after all?
