There are many instances where it would be preferable to fix one’s own device rather than sending it away to be fixed by the pros. One reason is that you wish to maintain your root access. Another is that perhaps you simply like your specific devices because it overclocks well. In any case, fixing a device yourself can be challenging when you don’t know what you’re doing. Thankfully, there is now a tear down guide for the HTC MyTouch 4G similar to the recently undressed HTC Titan.
XDA Senior Member repairsuniverse has produced a step by step teardown and rebuild method that will help users, tear down their phones without fear of screwing things up. Says repairsuniverse:
This guide aimed the LCD and touchscreen digitizer replacement, but other internal parts may be repaired and replaced too. This guide is a step by step format and can be followed for a quick and safe repair.
Repairsuniverse was kind enough to assemble a list of the required tools to do it in the safest possible way. Additionally, there are step by step text instructions along with pics for the more complicated steps. Using the guide, users can fix or replace virtually any part of their phone.
