Google Nexus 5 Mistakenly Appears on the Play Store!

You know it’s coming. Heck, we even created a forum for it… before it was even officially announced—a first for us here at XDA. Now, Google dun goofed up and briefly posted a Play Store entry for the Nexus 5 earlier this evening. The Play Store listing was very quickly taken down. And now, the Nexus landing page only lists the Nexus 4, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10. Luckily, however, the listing wasn’t removed quickly enough to beat the rabid F5-ing of the Internet community at large.
The image that you see to your right is the official Play Store image for the Nexus 5—at least the image that was live when the listing was erroneously posted a few hours ago. The fine folks over at Phandroid also managed to snap a screenshot of the Nexus landing page displaying the Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10. Their image also confirmed that the pricing will start at $349. This is presumably for the 16 gig model. If that is indeed the case, we assume the 32 gig model will retail for either $399 or $449, likely depending on the veracity of the additional battery capacity rumors.
For those needing a bit of a refresher, the Nexus 5 is highly likely to ship with a quad-core 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor. It will likely feature 2 gigs of RAM and either 16 or 32 gigs of internal storage. It will sport a 5″ 1080p LCD (most likely LG IPS) display, and the current rumors point to 2300 mAh for the 16 gig model and 3000 mAh for the 32 gig model. The camera module should be decent as well, and may even feature optical image stabilization. All in all, these are superphone-caliber specs for low- to mid-range prices.
It’s coming, guys, and it’s coming soon! Are you looking forward to the Nexus 5 as much as we are? Let us know in the comments section below! And while you’re at it, don’t forget to visit our Nexus 5 forum!_________
