Just under a month ago, we talked about how HTC updated it software update page to display its progress in delivering Sense 6 to previous generation devices such as the HTC One M7. In the time since, we’ve seen certain variants of the the HTC One Max receive the update, and that only left us wondering when the previous One M7 would get to enjoy the Sense 6 goods as well.
Luckily, the time is now, as HTC has begun rolling out a Sense 6-laden update to developer and unlocked variants of the HTC One M7. This update comes in at software version 5.11.1540.9, and it brings most of the HTC One M8 (2014)’s software features to the M7. For a refresher, Sense 6 includes an updated UI color palate and support for multiple themes, an updated BlinkFeed interface with more news sources, and a simplified camera, gallery, and app tray. In addition to the Sense 6 features, this update also brings the new Extreme Power Saving mode to this older device, as well as a button to clear all recent apps.
This update is gradually making its way to consumer devices via an OTA update. However, not every device will be in the initial wave. Luckily, XDA Senior Member alray was kind enough to not only capture and mirror the OTA update, but also provide a TWRP-compatible Nandroid for your direct flashing pleasure. So if you want to get in on the update a bit early or wish to port this update to other variants head over to this post in the M7 software update tracking thread.
