Phonechievements Keeps Track of Your Phone Achievements

One of the things that makes Xbox 360 games so fun to play is the achievement system. Not only is the original point of a video game present, but there are also some challenging tasks to complete. This can add hours upon hours of game play and make a game enjoyable long after the completion of the campaign mode. So why not apply this idea to Android? Learning Android can be quite the task if you’ve never used it. Once you’ve learned, though, there’s no real challenge to using your Android phone anymore. An app called Phonechievemens hopes to change all that.

Phonechievemens was released by XDA Forum Member slackydroid and it’s a unique app. It’s similar to the achievement system seen on the Xbox 360 and similar systems. When users use their phone a certain way or perform a certain task, they unlock an achievement. Thus, using your Android phone to do boring stuff can be made fun.

Achievements are broken down into six categories. Some are pretty easy to get, while others will probably take you months. One such example is installing any official XDA application will earn you the Well Informed achievement, while installing Reddit Is Fun will nab you the Front Page of the Internet achievement. These can be covered in a few minutes and aren’t very challenging. If you want all of them, that’s when the real fun starts. There are some ridiculous achievements in this app. For instance, if you don’t charge your phone for four days, you earn the Green Activist. Child’s play, you say? There is an achievement to turn your phone screen off and on 1200 times in a single day and one for not using any data networks for five days. One of the most difficult for many XDA members will be achieving 6 consecutive months of uptime without rebooting or shutting down. Enjoy trying to get that one, flashaholics.

What makes this application truly unique is the various areas you can score some achievement points. From answering phone calls to charging your phone, from reaching certain altitudes with your GPS to installing more than 200 apps, the app challenges users to use their phones in ways they normally wouldn’t and learn how to do things many people never learn to do.

This is definitely a fun way to revitalize your Android experience. To learn more, check it out in the Phonechiever thread.
