Port Any Android Theme to Any Build

If you are an Android owner bent on skinning the last bit of graphic UI, I am sure that you eagerly wait for your favorite themes to be ported for whatever version of Android you are using. Due to the differences among the OS versions, you cannot simply use a theme from Froyo on Eclair. At least, you couldn’t until now. XDA member Daneshm90 made a script that allows theme porting between OS versions. No more waiting for that wonderful Donut theme that you used in the past to be ported by some kind soul over to Froyo.
This should work for all versions of Android and it is very simple to use.
Heres a script that ports your themes from firmware to firmware, rom to rom.
How it works:
- Looks through app/framework folder for apks that exist in new/old rom
- Then extracts pngs from those apks
- Then deletes mismatching pngs
- Repacks old themes pngs into new rom
Note: Benefit of this method is that you could literally port a donut theme to a froyo rom because it only copies images that exist in the new rom, and none that don’t.
You can find more information in the application thread.
