Privacy is a paramount concern for many, particularly when all your personal information is stored in a device that has the potential ability to just send it to whomever it feels like it. Love it or hate it, Microsoft decided that this was far too important when Windows Vista was released and implemented a very annoying yet incredibly safe way of using your computer. The OS will ask you for confirmation of virtually every action we try to take on Vista and 7. A similar approach was taken by XDA member eoc who wrote LBE Privacy Guard for our Android devices. This works in a similar way to the aforemention Windows security implementation with the only difference that it will intercept actions being taken the automatically. For instance, if you had an app that decided to “call home” by itself, the app will intercept this attempt and ask you for a confirmation that you actually want it to do that. It reacts to my events such as SMS, phone calls, or virtually any kind of data transfer by an app. The app also comes equipp with a low level firewall, a netfilter that does not require the use of iptables, and it works with versions of Android prior to Froyo. One last thing, you must be rooted for this to work.
Please leave some feedback for the dev he there it may be bugs or praises for this wonderful app, and stay safe in your travels through the internet.
Please allow me to introduce LBE Privacy Guard, a small app wrote by myself. This app enhances Android permission system and protects your privacy.
LBE Privacy Guard works just like Windows UAC, it intercept vital actions (like send SMS, call phones) and requests to access sensitive data(SMS conversation, contacts, phone location, IMEI, IMSI, etc) from apps, then prompt for your confirmation. Unless explicit permit, such actions and request will be rejected.
You can find more information in the application thread.
