They may be a little outdated in this age of syncing information between multiple devices, but plenty of people still pick up a good old fashioned wall calendar, even if just for aesthetic value. There’s a calendar out there to cater for every taste. Whether it’s Chihuahuas or Barry Manilow, you’ll find the calendar for you, even if you’re looking for something very specific.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could take this iconic format and place one directly onto the home screen of your Android device? Well, Picture Calendar Widget by XDA Senior Member Kashban allows you to do just that. You saw that coming though right? Simply place the widget wherever you like, tap the picture to open up the app itself, and set whichever image you like to a month of your choice. You can also assign a caption to the images if you wish.
The widget itself shows only the image and a traditional month view calendar with the current date highlighted. However, tapping on a particular date will take you directly to the Google calendar app and allow you to keep track of your schedule. For this reason, the widget is probably more suited to those who favor aesthetics over functionality, but still worth checking out unless you absolutely need to see your schedule right off the bat.
Picture Calendar Widget runs on Android 2.2 or above and is available for free from the Play Store and forum thread.
