Root and Recovery for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

From the moment a device is released—and this is true for pretty much any Android device—someone inevitably begins to look for a way to obtain root access. In some cases, it can be rather difficult and take weeks or months, but in other cases it’s almost instantaneous. No matter the time frame or the device, gaining root access for the first time is always an exciting development.
Now, owners of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 have root access thanks to XDA Senior Member weltwon and help from a number of others. The process is pretty standard for a Samsung device. You will naturally need all the proper USB drivers and ODIN before starting, but they are supplied in the thread. From there, you are just a few clicks away. Afterwards, you should make use of that fresh new custom recovery by creating a Nandroid backup. Now the race is on for the first custom ROM for the device. As stated by the developer:
P.S. PLEASE … FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY, AFTER YOU ROOT,
REBOOT INTO CWM AND MAKE A BACKUP !!!
P. P.S. The source code for GT-P5113 has been out for weeks … who will post the first custom ROM ?
Head over to the original thread to get started.
