Rooting the Moto Defy

You have all asked for this device to be added to our ever growing list, and we did it. Now, it is time to start off development for this very rugged device. What better way to set things off than with a rooting guide for this phone? XDA member pedrodh saw that things started off slow for this device and decided to post a very comprehensive guide for rooting the Defy. This thread has a step by step including all necessary adb commands to successfully achieve root and allow you to install certain apps like Titanium Backup and many others that require root access.
There is an alternative option to this guide and that is to use z4root, if you are not familiar with adb. However, knowing and understanding how the process works might allow you to learn much more about Android than to simply use a 1 click root.
I’ve seen that there’s no topic teaching how to ROOT the phone in the forum yet, so I’m making one myself, I hope this will help users who come here looking for info.
You can find more information in the guide thread.
