Personally, we think the HTC Sense softkeybar – or dock, whatever you want to call it – hasn’t been organized well enough. It consists of the programs button, the phone launcher and the personalize button. Although it looks good, there are a few things that could have been designed better. The phone button is really too big. We understand that it’s an important launcher, but this is just too much. In fact, there could easily be four buttons instead of three, allowing for a better user experience. Moreover, the Personalize button is completely useless: you can bring it up using the menu button or by a simple tap-and-hold on the home screen.
Four customizable buttons, that can be assigned to apps, settings, switches, and other things, would be a great option. To start, XDA member the1wingedangel created a hack for the Personalize button.

Well now you have options. I’ve made many different files to remap it to various common apps, and its growing with requests. (Check the image at the bottom of this post to see the corresponding icon changes)
-HTC/Google messaging app
-HTC contacts app
-Turn off screen (this one requires the Kill Screen app to work, see my thread here)
Yeah, that’s a lot of options. And we suppose the list will only grow bigger. Currently, it’s only for the Desire Z, but we’ll keep an eye on any further updates.
We hope that HTC will add such a feature in their next versions of HTC Sense – it really is a great improvement.
