There are various options for Android roms in the HD2 section and while all of them are very good due to the amount of time our devs pour into them, there is one that was pointed out to us by XDA member Kaymado, which we thought deserved an article for itself. XDA member DarkStone1337, who is famous for his various accomplishments in the HD2 port projects returns to the spotlight with yet another contribution to the HD2 community. He has successfully managed to get the Android OS mounted and ran from RAM instead of NAND or even Storage. If you got to this part of the reading and are not sure why this is better, here goes the little explanation. Running anything from memory has an incredible effect in performance and stability! This has been true since the days on WM and still prevails with Android.
The best part is that the data file does not reside in RAM, but in Storage, so even if you accidentally run out of battery, you will not lose anything. Darkstone also mentions that even though the rom is running from RAM, you will still have enough memory left to do anything you want without the device running out of resources. Lastly, this is a Sense-less rom in case you were wondering.
So, if you like trying new builds from time to time to compare speed and smoothness, be sure to try this one out. You will not regret it.
What is special about this build is that the entire Android O/S filesystem is stored in RAM before it is booted.
What does this mean? Well, RAM is faster than NAND and SD Card which in turn will make the build superfast too
You can find more information in the ROM thread.
