S-View Functionality on Any Phone

If you’re a fan of Samsung’s S View but don’t currently own a supported phone, fret not. You can now achieve similar functionality thanks to an application by XDA Forum Member hatroid that was inspired by Samsung’s proprietary feature but is compatible with any device sporting a flip-style cover with window.
Similar to the first party feature, hatroid’s implementation displays a variety of information such as Caller ID (during incoming calls), the current time and date, missed calls and messages, currently playing music information, and custom text. Building on the original, however, hatroid’s app allows you to customize the layouts to work with your own cover’s shape. You can also set a delay to avoid triggering the app by mistake.
Using the app is simple. You simply install the application, start the service, and customize the layout positioning. If desired, you can configure triggering and items to be displayed.
If you’ve been longing for S View but don’t happen to own a supported Samsung device, head over to the application thread and give hatroid’s replacement a shot.
