Samba Server for Android

An often-requested modification for Android is the ability to use an Android-powered device with a Samba server to make it easier to send and receive files to and from the phone. Doing so allows users to bypass the tedious process of establishing an FTP server and using an FTP client to access files from a Windows or Linux computer. Although it has been some time in the making, XDA member JimmyChingala has recently come up with the solution.
JimmyChingala’s SambaAndroid tool is available for free as an .apk and, although it requires root and will take you some time in the terminal to get everything going, it allows you to make the most of the Samba networking system when using your Android phone. You can find the latest version in this post of the request thread.
Thanks for the tip, FadeFx!
