The Motorola Xoom owners are no longer the only privileged owners of Android 3.1 loaded tablets. Both Asus and Acer had promised that sometime in June they would be releasing 3.1 updates for their latest tabs. Well, it looks like this gift came a bit earlier than expected to the Transformer. After a leaked version was spotted, XDA member Roach2010 decided to take a crack at messing with it. After a few days of tweaking, modding, etc, he finally got it to boot on the 3.0.1 loaded Transformer, and so PRIMORDIAL 3.1 was born. This is the first version of the first custom 3.1 rom for the device and as such it is going like cookies straight out of the oven. The rom is already rooted, comes with Busybox, SU, is partially deodexed, and of course it comes with all the goodies that were promised by ASUS on the 3.1 update. Running a few benches on the device, yield not so impressive Quadrant and Linpacks. However, it looks like the 2D was finally fixed on the new version of the honeybee. The overall feel of the rom is smoother than that of the original stock rom.
If you own a Transformer and want to take it for a spin, make sure that you follow the directions by the dev. Installation is pretty straight forward, but you must ensure that the MD5sum of whatever you download matches the one provided by the dev in the opening post, just to be safe. Please leave some feedback if you run into any bugs.
This rom is based on the leaked HC 3.1 US Build 220.127.116.11-20110527, there are no guarantees of support for this ROM, this is for experimental use. Please ensure that you know what you are doing before installing any rom as following an incorrect procedure may lead to problems.
You can find more information in the rom thread.
