Sense 3.0 May Become Available in Pre-Sensation Devices

It is amazing how HTC has been able to turn the page on what it could have meant an absolute PR disaster as well as a sharp drop in sales. Listening to customer complains, HTC decided that it would no longer lock the bootloaders for the upcoming devices HTC Sensation, Kingdom, and so on. However, it seems that HTC’s involvement with the community and the people who buy their stuff is far from over. Apparently, they quite enjoyed the overwhelming positive response to consumer requests and they have decided to start listening a bit more. XDA member GODZSON was participating in a Facebook conversation between a few people and HTC, and someone requested, or rather asked, if there was a possibility of getting the newest version of Sense (3.0) in older devices like the Desire S (if you can call this device “old”). Well, here is HTC’s official statement on this matter:
“There are aspects of the latest HTC Sense that won’t work on some of our previous devices. We are working to incorporate other aspects that will”
I guess HTC should look into our beloved little site a bit more often. They are right in the sense that certain aspects of the UI will not work on many models. Most of these are related to hardware differences between them. For instance, when the Kingdom port was opened up and the Sense 3.0 framework and widgets were analyzed, it was found that many of these had 3D elements, which of course would not be compatible with a device running a non-3D screen or carrying a 3D camera. Also, graphic drivers are a problem (in fact, the biggest problem according to some of our devs). But other than that, Sense 3.0 has been ported to multiple devices including the EVO 4G, Desire HD, and a couple of others. And truth be told, they are working amazingly well, minus a few glitches of course. Everything else has already been tackled for them. All widgets have been re-sized to fit snugly and well in a WVGA device screen (keep in mind that these were designed for a qHD screen, which has a higher resolution), so that part is done. The infamous weather app is almost completely ported in the Kingdom ports as well as others. Personally, I am running a GB rom (Synergy by XDA members XxXViRuSXxX, myn, and a few others) on my EVO which is running a Sense 2.1 base rom with about 80% of the elements from Sense 3.0, and weather works better in my EVO than it does on the HTC Flyer, which actually is running Sense 2.1 for tablets, which happens to be almost identical to Sense 3.0. Did I mention that this rom is in pre-beta? Maybe, HTC should look in here if they need help.
So, is this the sign of a new beginning for HTC? Does this mean that they will start supporting their devices for longer than 6 months before scraping it for newer models? How far back do you think their support will go to? Please share your thoughts with us.
