Simple Wireless Charging Mod For The Galaxy Note II

We love a good hardware modification here at XDA, and one of the most popular seems to be adapting a device for wireless charging. Such modifications are usually relatively simple to perform by making use of the HP Touchstone wireless charging unit and a device case designed to work with the charger itself. XDA Forum Member Ryan_G has posted details of how he was able to achieve wireless charging on his Samsung Galaxy Note II. As if that weren’t cool enough, it takes less than ten minutes and is quite inexpensive.

The list of components you’ll need to try this for yourself is as follows:

  • Soldering Equipment
  • Palm Touchstone
  • Palm Touchstone Case
  • Heat Shrink
  • Electrical Tape
  • Thin Multicore Wire

To sum up the procedure as briefly as possible, you take the induction coil from the Touchstone case and attach it to the inside of the Note’s back cover. Providing this is done correctly, you should be able to reattach the battery cover. And upon placing your device on the charging dock, your device will recharge without any physical attachment. ┬áIf you’d like to try this out for yourself then check out the original guide thread.

As I said before, this is quite a popular modification that can be made to several other devices such as the Galaxy S3 and the Xperia Arc. So if you aren’t a Note II owner, it’s worth checking your own device’s forum to see if this possible for you as well. Be warned, though, as it isn’t always as simple as the method described above.
