Sony has previously confirmed that its two tablets, the uniquely book-shaped Tablet S and the dual-screened Tablet P, are definitely going to get updates to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, we only didn’t know when. Now The Verge and TechRadar have gotten some new and slightly more specific information regarding the timing, which is apparently going to be this spring.
Currently being tested internally, the Ice Cream Sandwich update will also come with “some really cool unique bits”, presumably including support for Microsoft Office files and, more notably, the
PS3 controller. With the Tablet S becoming PlayStation certified, you’d be able to play games with the Sixaxis controller of the PlayStation 3 instead of those annoying on-screen controls. Of course, this would only work with special PlayStation-compatible Android games, similar to those found for the Xperia Play – if it turns out to be true, that is.
