Sony Tablet S Gets Root for ICS

It is always exciting when a phone or tablet gets an update to the next Android OS version. This is especially for tablets because no tablet owners want to be stuck at Honeycomb or, worse yet, Gingerbread. Of course, as with all updates, the first priority is re-establishing root. In most cases, users can just download a pre-rooted ROM and update that way. In other cases, though, a new root method is required. The Sony Tablet S was recently updated to ICS, and there is now a compatible root method.
XDA Forum Member WonderEkin found a root method for the Tablet S ICS on a Japanese forums, and was kind enough to translate it and bring it over. The method itself is delightfully old school, and takes place mostly in a command prompt or terminal. Of course, that means it is also harder than one-click methods, and it will take longer as well. So be sure to allot the appropriate time.
Users are directed to download a series of files and extract them. Then, open up a command prompt and change directory to where the extracted files are. From there, it’s a matter of restoring a provided settings file, removing a few files, pushing the root stuff, and a laundry list of other things.
