The Sony Xperia Acro S is one of the most interesting smartphones on the forums. It’s not very well known, but it has decent specs. Usually, when a device isn’t well known, it doesn’t have anywhere near decent specs. Oh, did we mention that it’s completely waterproof? Although it may be impervious to water damage, the device wasn’t able to protect itself from being rooted.
XDA Forum Member heeroyun has posted a root method for the Acro S, and it’s pretty easy to follow. It’s not quite a one-click method, but it’s pretty close. To use it, users will need a few Acro S files, Flashtool 0.9.0.0, and the device drivers. A little preparation is in order as well, including the usual enabling of USB Debugging and installation from unknown sources.
From there, users just follow the steps and plug in the files where they need plugged in. Despite some early hiccups, users are reporting that the tutorial does work, and no one has reported any big problems. Additionally, users don’t need to unlock their bootloader for this to work. Granted, it’s always better to unlock the bootloader, but in this case it’s not necessary. For more details, head to the original thread._________
