Sony Xperia X10 Gets New Life From Xperia S Port

The Sony Xperia X10 was one of Sony Ericsson’s first forays into the Android smartphone world, and it’s been a solid product over the years. It originally shipped with Android 1.6 Donut and has since been updated to Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread as recently as Fall 2009. That’s almost 2 full years from when the device was originally released. For all the naysayers about Sony, they’ve been one of the few manufacturers to continue to support their older phones.
With the recent release of the Sony Xperia S, it’s only natural to think that the X10 will finally fade off into the sunset. But there are some loyal users who have different plans. XDA Forum Members championswimmer and Tof37 have brought the Xperia S stock ROM to the X10. With the exception of the Lockscreen and Gallery, all of the apps from the Xperia S Stock ROM have been ported to the X10 along with various pieces from the Arc, Play, and Active. The ROM does have a nice caveat at the top, stating that if you are on a locked bootloader or stock kernel you will need to flash a certain zip file before flashing the ROM each time.
Head on over to the ROM thread to get more information and to thank the developers for their commitment to this solid device.
